5 Hospitality Interview Top Tips From Spayse

A job in the hospitality sector can be a wonderful career choice, with plenty of different roles to suit your own unique strengths, as well as a lot of opportunities for growth. However, when you are invited to a hospitality job interview, you may not know quite what to expect. What hospitality job interview questions might be asked, and what should you think about beforehand? We have collected five top hospitality job interview tips to help you land your dream job.

Do Your Research

The hard work begins before you even set foot in your interview; you should research the business. Browse their website to find out more about when the business was founded and what they offer. However, it doesn’t stop there; think about you. Make a list of your hobbies, your strengths and your weaknesses, so that you can see where you will fit in.

Dress Professionally

Make sure that when you do attend your interview, you are dressed professionally. A smart jacket, shirt and blazer, or a dress and clean, formal shoes, show that you are professional and ready to interview. Look as though you have made an effort and it will serve you well!

Practice Makes Perfect

Don’t just expect to show up on the day and perform perfectly. A truly great interview takes practice, so make sure to look up some of the most commonly asked interview questions both generally and in your field. A general rule is to prepare for questions such as why you have chosen the job role, why you wish to work with that business and situations you have been in which would translate well to this role, such as occasions where you have provided excellent customer service or worked well under pressure.

Work on Body Language

While you are thinking about how you will answer these questions, consider your body language. It is easy to show your nerves through biting your nails, playing with your hair, or generally fidgeting, so if you have any common tics that reveal your uncertainty, try and practice speaking without doing them.

Ask The Right Questions

During your preparation, make a list of at least two or three questions which show that you are invested in the business and the job role. This can be about potential growth, or you can ask a question about a specific element of the company.

With these hospitality job interview tips, you will have a better chance of standing out from the crowd. If you want a little extra help finding the perfect hospitality job for you, get in touch with Spayse for a range of fantastic opportunities.
